A corset is a beautiful garment, if worn correctly. A new corset
should always be 'broken in'. This means that you wear the garment for
short periods of time and slowly tighten the lacing. This ensures that
the fabric can stretch, the corset will adapt to your body and your body
can adjust to it's new shape. If you go too quickly, you can damage both
your body and the corset.
In the morning, don't start with the tightest lacing, but gradually
tighten during the day.
Put your corset on with the strings loosened, it's easier and better
for the corset. Start at the top with tightening the lacing and work
your way to the middle. Then lace from the bottom up to the middle. Move
a little as this will let the corset be placed on your waist better.
Lacing a corset isn't quite as complicated as it may seem, as shown
in the video below.
A corset doesn't actually make you slimmer. Ofcourse there is a
temporary waist reduction, but this will be undone when you take off the
corset.
It is possible to loose wait on the long run, as you adapt to the
corset.
You can't really eat all that much at the same time, eating in smaller
portions is more comfortable. Soda drinks, greasy food and alcohol are
also not very comfortable to eat and drink. Indirectly, corsets
stimulate a healthier lifestyle.
It's wise to wear your corset over another, smooth and tightfitting
garment, so the natural oils of your skin can't damage the fabric.
Laundering your corset often is discouraged, as this will speed up the
wear & tear of your corset.
It's best to store your corset flat and lying down and don't roll it
up, this prevents warping of the shape of your corset.
There are several types of boning :
- plastic, these bend in the wiast which makes wearing your corset for
longer periods of tinme very uncomfortable
- flat steel, these bend in one direction
-spiral steel, these bend in multiple directions
Most of our corsets have flat steel boning, they can also be ordered
with spiral steel boning.
Standard our corsets have a busk closure ( a strip of steel pins on
the one and steel eyes on the other side).
With some models it's possible to get a metal zipper, this can add a
little pizazz to certain models.
The corset can be delivered without a front closure as well, but this
means you have tyo either lace it fully every time you wear it, or pull
it over your head to put it on.
A front lace-up is also one of the possibilities, b ut this is only
advised for calm models and fabrics, as it may become to loud a
combination otherwise.
Standaard our corsets are delivered with a rope for lacing, but we
may sometimes opt for the satin ribbon. This is less sturdy, but can be
very elegant.
Some corsets are delivered with suspender loops, the loose suspenders
are available separately.
